This year we went to Butchard Gardens again. We went because we could take the Victoria Clipper (a boat that takes you from Seattle to Vancouver Island) for a good price and some people from our church were also going to Butchart. We only went for a day. We are trying to save our money because we are taking a short term mission trip to Uganda.

Our friends thought Victoria was beautiful. For Carmi and I, we were somewhat disappointed in the gardens because when we went 3 years ago with Joshua, there were many more flowers in bloom. This really speaks about perspective. When you have experienced the best, you know what you are missing. Our walk with the Lord is the same. When you have experienced Jesus Christ and his love, you know what you are missing if you are not as close with Him. That is why we continually pursue a relationship with Christ-nothing else matches it. Another lesson is to appreciate what you have in life. As you can see from the flower pictures, there still were some beautiful flowers. We could focus on the dying flowers, or focus on the gorgeous flowers. I ran around taking pictures of the beautiful flowers.

Carmi and I want to go to Butchart Gardens one more time when it is nightime when they have the fireworks. I am sure that the lighted pathways are beautiful.

There was a point on the trip that I was worried that Carmi was going to leave me for someone else. She saw this handsome dude at the ferry dock and I had to bribe her to stay with me. I reminded her it was our anniversary.

This is a live bird. He was a couple feet tall. I assume he is some type of crane, egrid, or heron.

These are the children of our friends Randall and Angel-Jeremiah and Joy.They are the cutest kids. They have great personalities. We were amazed how well they did for a long 15 hour day.

Three years ago I had to push Carmi to 'ride' the horse, this time she jumped right on-my shy sweetheart has become much bolder. I have to keep her away from all the statues as you will see in the next picture.

As we were going back to the Clipper, Carmi found another statue. The 'statue' on the left is a real person. We saw the same guy in the Seattle area this year-I think I have seen a couple other times. He is amazing. He can stay perfectly still no matter what people do in front of him. I am awestruck at these taleneted 'live statues'.
